What inspired the creation of Amiral Cruises for Presidents®?
Amiral was inspired by the river itself.
The Saigon River is not simply a body of water; it is a witness to history. Trade routes, diplomatic exchanges, cultural transitions, and moments of profound national transformation have all flowed along its currents.
For many years, I felt the river deserved a vessel that reflected its significance — something intimate, elegant, and symbolic. Not a mass-market product, but a curated experience.
Amiral was born from that conviction: that luxury can carry memory, meaning, and aspiration all at once.
The name “For Presidents” is distinctive. What does it represent?
“For Presidents” expresses a standard of dignity, discretion, and ceremonial hospitality.
It does not refer to politics. It refers to presence.
When a president travels, every detail matters — privacy, security, refinement, grace. We wanted to embed that same philosophy into every aspect of Amiral.
Every guest is treated with that level of attentiveness. The name signals excellence — not extravagance, but elevated care.
How does Amiral redefine luxury cruising in Vietnam?
Luxury is evolving. It is no longer about size or spectacle.
Amiral is intentionally intimate. I often describe it as a “small giant.” With fewer guests onboard, we can curate experiences with precision — personalized dining, cultural storytelling, refined service rituals.
It is urban, sophisticated, and ceremonial. Sunset sailings, fine dining, curated cultural performances, executive gatherings, and 1–3 night river–sea journeys are designed to create atmosphere rather than volume.
True luxury today lies in significance — not scale.
What role does sustainability play in Amiral’s design and operation?
Sustainability is not a trend; it is responsibility.
From energy-efficient systems and operational mindfulness to local sourcing and community engagement, sustainability is integrated into our daily practice.
But there is also a deeper dimension. When guests understand the ecology and heritage of the Saigon River, they connect with it emotionally. And connection inspires stewardship.

How does Vietnamese culture shape the onboard experience?
Culture is the foundation of everything we do.
The design language reflects Indochine heritage with contemporary refinement. Our culinary program celebrates Vietnamese gastronomy elevated with modern technique. Music, storytelling, and curated narratives bring the river’s history to life.
We want guests to feel that they are not just cruising — they are participating in a living cultural dialogue.
If they disembark understanding Vietnam more deeply, then we have succeeded.
Why focus on the Saigon River at this moment?
Ho Chi Minh City is emerging as one of Asia’s most dynamic urban destinations. Yet the river — its most poetic asset — has not fully expressed its luxury potential.
We see the Saigon River as a cultural artery connecting city and sea. In the future, expanded river–sea itineraries linking Saigon to coastal destinations will strengthen that vision.
Revitalizing waterway tourism is not only a strategic move — it is symbolic of Vietnam’s maritime identity.
