Dr. Pham Ha
Founding President & CEO, LuxGroup®
Luxury, when stripped to its essence, is never about possession. It is about purpose—the rare alignment between who you are, what you do, and why it matters. In an age of acceleration and excess, purpose has quietly become the most exclusive form of luxury.
In 1985, I was ten years old, standing beside my father on the deck of the Thống Nhất ship, sailing from Hải Phòng to Sài Gòn. I remember the vastness of the water, the steady rhythm of the engine, and the moment we arrived at Nha Rong Wharf. I could not explain it then, but something profound took root. I sensed—instinctively—that rivers and oceans would one day shape the direction of my life.
Four decades later, that childhood intuition has become the most personal undertaking of my career—and my life.
Through Lux Cruises Group and its storytelling brands—Heritage Cruises, Emperor Cruises, and Amiral Cruises for Presidents—I am not building cruise products. I am building meaning. I am using tourism and cruising as a language to speak about culture, memory, identity, and happiness.
Purpose as a Life Compass
Success without purpose is loud but hollow. Purpose without action is a dream left unfinished. Somewhere between the two lies happiness.
Over years of building businesses and traveling the world, I came to understand that life purpose functions like a compass. It does not eliminate storms, but it ensures you never lose direction. It aligns ambition with inner peace. It transforms work into service and leadership into stewardship.
A cruise, at its highest expression, is never merely about movement. It is about pause. On water, time behaves differently. Rivers do not rush; seas do not explain themselves. They invite reflection. They ask us to listen—to history, to nature, and to ourselves.
That realization brought me back to Vietnam’s waterways, beginning with the Saigon River—a living chronicle of more than 300 years of trade, migration, resilience, and reinvention. Long before towers and traffic, the river shaped this city’s soul. It was never meant to be background scenery; it was meant to be a storyteller.

Amiral: Where History Becomes Experience
Amiral Cruises for Presidents® is the most intimate and personal expression of that belief.
Its spirit is inspired by the historic Amiral Latouche-Tréville, the vessel that carried young Nguyen Tat Thanh from Nhà Rồng Wharf in 1911. He departed as a kitchen assistant, armed with nothing but curiosity, courage, and conviction. Three decades later, he returned to lead Vietnam toward independence.
Amiral is not a replica, nor an exercise in nostalgia. Designed in the refined spirit of 1920s Art Deco, it is a pièce unique—a floating heirloom where proportion, craftsmanship, and cultural memory converge. Every line is intentional. Every material is restrained. Luxury here whispers rather than declares.
At this stage of my life, I no longer view Amiral through the narrow lens of commercial success. It is a mission—to honor heritage, to elevate storytelling, and to deliver happiness through experiences that awaken all five senses. It is my way of giving something back to the rivers and seas that shaped me.
Three Brands, One National Narrative
Each brand within Lux Cruises Group represents a chapter of Vietnam’s modern story, told not through static exhibitions, but through living journeys.
Heritage Cruises pays homage to Bach Thai Buoi, the early 20th-century entrepreneur often called the “King of Cruise Ships.” His Bình Chuẩn vessel was more than transport; it was a declaration of national pride at a time when such ideas were acts of quiet resistance. Sailing through the Cat Ba Archipelago, guests encounter not only dramatic limestone landscapes, but the enduring spirit of Vietnamese self-belief.
Emperor Cruises explores the layered legacy of Bao Dai, Vietnam’s final monarch. Educated in Europe and ruling during immense complexity, his life embodied transition—between tradition and modernity, monarchy and republic. Emperor Cruises does not simplify history; it reveals nuance, allowing guests to experience palaces, bays, and villas as reflections of a nation in transformation.
Amiral, finally, brings the story back to the river—to departures, beginnings, and the truth that leadership often starts with a journey into the unknown.
Luxury as Culture, Happiness as Legacy
I believe true luxury is cultural. It is ethical. It is deeply human.
When guided by purpose, tourism becomes a quiet force for good—reviving heritage, empowering communities, and reconnecting people with meaning. Happiness, in this sense, is not fleeting pleasure. It is resonance. It stays with you long after the voyage ends.
That is why I say, without hesitation: this is not a cruise. It is the Happiness Project of my life.
A fulfilled dream is never meant to be kept. It is meant to be shared—across generations, across cultures, across waters.
A cruise is never just travel.
It is memory.
It is emotion.
It is a story that endures.
Welcome aboard—not merely a ship, but a lifelong journey guided by purpose, pride, and the timeless language of water.
